Our teaching method
Learners express their own ideas and identity, imagination and opinions using the English language. They explore relevant and real life issues to develop their communicative competence for a variety of situations. Students become aware of the power of language and how to use it. Increased personal confidence in dealing with progressively demanding communicative tasks is derived from models, frameworks and individual learning strategies. Clearly defined targets are achieved through our continuous, rigorous and innovative feedback procedures. Self-, peer- and teacher-assessment maintains high levels of personal progress throughout the course.
Rationale for teaching mono-lingual student groups
Our highly developed learning schemes focus specifically on student groups who share the same mother tongue and educational background. This allows us to build on students' common experiences and introduce a totally new culture, i.e. the British culture effectively and meaningfully. Thus we are able to deal with our students specific expectations without wasting time on dealing with too many different needs inevitable in a multi-cultural environment.
The programme
Students take responsibilities for themselves and others and learn to become independent in a controlled and safe environment via hands-on experiences. They discover their home stay town, as well as London and many well-known sights and attractions further afield, and enjoy exciting afternoon activities and creative workshops. Our programmes offer excellent opportunities to function competently and confidently in a British community.
Location
Highly reputable local secondary schools known for their excellent facilities provide a suitable and appropriate environment conducive to learning. The close proximity to Central London (15-20 minutes by train) enables students to embrace the real buzz of life in the capital whilst living in safe, residential greenbelt areas.
Intercultural experience with Host Families
Students become real members of our welcoming host families sharing their everyday life and extending genuine friendship and interest. Students gain the confidence to live harmoniously in a foreign environment through the families' high levels of care and empathy. In addition to a thorough understanding of inter-cultural exchanges, they provide full board in a comfortable home. Our host families are vetted according to rigorous and professional criteria by trained and highly experienced local organisers with the aim of achieving the highest levels of quality.
